INDIAN ASTRONOMY OLYMPIAD
The Astronomical Society of India(ASI) is organising Indian Astronomy
Olympiad for the last three years to select students in two age groups(below
16 and below 18 years as on a certain prespefied date;Group I: those born after
January 1,1986; Group II: those born after january 1, 1984, to represent
India in the International Astronomy Olympiad.
The ASI conducts a Qualifying Test in Astronomy (QUOTA ) on the end of 21-January 2001 this year at the science museums and planetariums nation wide with the support of INDIAN SPACE RESEARCH ORGANISATION and NATIONAL COUNCIL OF SCIENCE MUSEUMS ;INDIA . These museums acts a centre for the selection of students for the QUOTA by conduction of a preliminary examination in Physics , Mathematics and Astronomy.
Regional Science centre;calicut, acts as an active centre in the Kerala zone and every year an ample number of stiudents are selected for the national test from which the selected few represents India in International Astronomy Olympiad.
This year Regional Science centre and planetarium will conduct a priliminary test during the month of December at its campus.
